Five Week Pottery Wheel Course

Monday 12 October – Monday 9 November
10:00 am-12:00 noon

Join us for a five-week pottery wheel course in our beautiful Drysdale studio. With only five people in each class, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance and time to practise.

In this relaxed, hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including preparing the clay, centering, shaping and creating your own unique pottery pieces.

This course is suitable for beginners, intermediate potters and anyone wanting to build their confidence on the pottery wheel.

Teenagers are welcome to attend with a paying adult.

What you’ll learn

Weeks 1-3: Wheel throwing
Learn how to prepare and centre clay, then throw and shape your own pots on the wheel.

Week 4: Trimming and finishing
Trim your pots, add handles and personalise your pieces with texture, carving and other decorative techniques.

Week 5: Glazing
Learn how to glaze your finished pieces and prepare them for their final firing.

You’ll have plenty of time to practise throughout the course. Any pieces you don’t wish to keep can be recycled, allowing you to focus on keeping your best work.

Price

$375 per person for the five-week course ($75 per week)

The price includes clay, tuition, use of equipment, and the firing and glazing of up to 4 kg of finished work.

If you would like to keep more than 4 kg of work, additional pieces will be charged at $10 per kilogram, including bisque and glaze firing.

Bookings and payment

A $100 deposit is required to secure your place. The remaining $275 is payable once the class has been confirmed or by the first session.

This course requires five participants to proceed. If minimum numbers are not reached, your deposit will be refunded in full, or you may transfer it to a new start date if preferred.

Only five places are available. Places are limited, so bookings are essential.
